Restaurant: Edamame
Location:
15 Holywell Street, Oxford OX1 3SA England
We had family visiting from Scotland, so we decided to have a touristy day out in our lovely city. We walked up the river into town and, after some sightseeing, settled on trying out Edamame for lunch. We had heard good things from a friend and always like trying things out on a recommendation. When we arrived on Holywell Street, there was a small queue coming out of the restaurant. A queue usually indicates one of two things in our eyes: slow service or something popular for a good reason. On this day, it was the latter. We discovered that soon enough with the fast and efficient service.
I had been looking forward to trying their sushi but discovered that it is only a Thursday night feature in this cozy little restaurant. However, their small lunch menu had something enticing for each in our group. The tables are shared between different groups, and the 5 of us were seated at a table with another couple. We ordered promptly, after basically all deciding what we’d have while waiting outside. My cousin had a big bowl of ramen. Mum had some form of fried chicken, my auntie and I had a nice grilled salmon; both of these dishes were served with a side of rice and miso soup. Aisha had the salmon special, which was a cold dish on sushi rice. She enjoyed it very much, and we had been interested in hearing her opinions of the place as she’d been traveling in Japan just a few months ago. She told us that the menu and dining experience she had in this little restaurant in Oxford was ‘almost’ identical to some she’d visited in Japan. The food came fast and was simple and delicious, the perfect fuel to continue our strolling around town.
Definitely looking forward to returning to this spot and trying out their Sushi!
Lots of love,
Keda xx
